Out & About – Week 4 – Fertilizer Friday

It’s Tootsie’s weekly Fertilizer Friday and I’m a little late on getting this posted this week because most of the week was drizzly and yucky.  Not a great picture taking venue.  But I caught up today cuz it was back to sunshine and 70+ degrees.  Yahoo!

I found some Datura seeds that I forgot I had taken from my daughter last summer so they went into peat pellets.
From this……
Datura - Seed Pod

To this…..

Datura peat pots

To, hopefully, this….Datura - WhiteDatura - Purple

So here’s a peek at what is growing in my yard right now.

Lilies
Yellow Loosestrife
Azalea

Stella D'Oro Daylily
Daffodil
Cyclamen
The Cyclamen is in a pot and is being taken out in the morning, and in at night.  Night temperatures are still a little unpredictable.

When I hopped in my car to go to the bird supply store today, I grabbed my camera. Just in case.  I’m so glad I did!  Look what I saw for the first time ever!

Great Blue Heron
How cool is that!  I’ll post a few more pictures in my next post because I saw something even more awesome that I would like to share.

If you want to see what’s going on in other gardens around this great earth, pop over to Tootsie’s Fertilizer Friday.

P.S.  Guess what?  It’s May!

My mother-in-law grew moonflowers, and I had to hunt to find some, but once mine bloomed and went to seed, I no longer needed to find more to plant. Your seed pods look like the white ones to me. The purple ones I grew one year had differently shaped ones.

Your blooms are pretty. Nice photos! How cool that you got to see the blue heron! It's beautiful!

Datura is so pretty but I also think that every part of it is highly toxic so be careful.

Anxious to see the Datura sprout! I had a peach one but lost it a few years ago.

Love the Datura plant. I've never heard it called that. I bought this same plant at the flea market a couple of years ago. They called it a moon plant, but it didn't make it. :(

WOW! Your plantings are just beautiful!

Hi Maureen!
I love this blog of yours...my husband built two koi ponds just outside our driveway and I went to get into my car and a blue heron just about scared me to death standing at the edge of the pond! Aren't they beautiful though?! Can you send me your email? I'd like to ask you a question. moltodimoda@bellsouth.net. Thanks!
