One day at a time. One person at a time. One thing at a time.
The common mindset used to be that a single person could not possibly make a difference. I never agreed with that notion. In my mind, we can all make a difference. A “grassroots” effort. Each of us can make a difference. Like a cold, we can be contagious.
So let me get on my proverbial “high horse”. Paper pollution is not only wasteful but extremely annoying. I used to get stacks of mail that were 1 to 2 inches thick. There were days when I thought I might have to hire a mail handler! Opening my mailbox to 8+ credit card applications and 1,2, 3 or more catalogs was not unusual. That WAS then. Then I signed up with Catalog Choice.
It’s easy and it’s free! And it really works! Just add the names of the catalogs that you get but don’t want to receive. Within a short time, the catalogs stop. You can add more catalogs as needed. It made huge difference in the amount of junk mail that I get.
My other huge pet peeve is credit card offers but you can also stop receiving them here:
You should know that they will ask for your personal information (including SSN) so you should read it carefully and make your own decision. It has reduced the credit card offers in my mailbox 98%.

Wow, what great tips. I had no idea I could get rid of those catalogs and credit card applications. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will check into these and the Old Grey Mare tomorrow. You're right--we can all make a difference.
Amy :)
FABULOUS!
I knew there was a way to do this but I had misplaced the links and just never got around to it.
I will take care of this tomorrow.
Thank you so much.

Wonderful suggestions! thanks.

Good to know. The credid card offers stopped for a while but have resumed with gusto.
We don't get much mail on this side of the world. But there is a big problem with fliers and business cards being delivered door to door, tucked inside handles, stuck to windowshields or taped to doors. Then it all winds up blowing all over the place. Litter is the biggest problem in this country.
Hope you have a great weekend. :) Tammy
Great info! Thanks for sharing, Theresa xoxo
Great tip; It is something I will look into! Thanks~
Wasteful and annoying. That about covers it. Thanks for the tips. Next I'll go after spam clutter. Wastes my time and is REALLY annoying.
I am rather fanatical about recycling paper, and it drives me insane to get so many credit card offers. And certain charities that I donate to, who send me things every week. Stop killing the trees! I will definitely visit the opt out site. Thanks Maureen!
Hi, I'm with you, I hate all the crap we get in the mailbox. I did away with all the catalogs a long time ago and switched to online statements, etc. With the elections coming up next month, I want to scream with all the waste that's in my mailbox every day...I won't read any of it.
Thanks for sharing and visiting;-)
Great post! I opted out of most of my junk mail this way. Then my credit card number was stolen and the person charge $1300 at high end catalog companies. My cc co. told me to call the companies and let them know so they would ship the merchandise (I found out quickly by checking my account online). When I gave my information to the companies they added me to their mailing list and sold my name to other companies - now I am going through the process to end this wasteful practice all over again.
